Come along and celebrate 2021 with your colleagues.

Hear how the Trust is advancing the surveying profession through investment of your royalties in education, skills and industry projects.

This year's guest speakers include

Scott Stewart, Resources Minister, Queensland Government

Scott Stewart is passionate about his role as Resources Minister. He takes pride in working with everyone from captains of industry, professionals across Queensland’s spatial and surveying industries, Queensland Government staff and workers on the ground in Queensland’s resources sector to ensure that our state continues to work towards an even brighter future.

The resources industry is in Scott’s blood. His great-grandfather Walter Davidson was one of the original Mount Isa miners in the 1920s, while his great-grandfather on his mother’s side wrangled pit ponies in the gold mines of Charters Towers.

Scott was elected as Member for Townsville in 2015 after working in education for 28 years, serving as principal and teacher in several high schools. During his time in education Scott established a boxing program at one of his schools, aimed at helping under-achieving Indigenous students re-engage with schooling by learning how to control their frustrations through the discipline of boxing. Scott remains passionate about education and supporting schools – both staff and students.

Scott and his wife Jackie moved to Townsville more than 22 years ago to raise their three children. He is an active participant within the community, volunteering his time as a Rotarian as well as sitting on several committees including the NQ Stadium Activation Group, Community Aviation Consultation Group, CBD Taskforce, Regional Economic Development Sub-Committee, Palm Island Economic Development and Palm Island Liveability Project.

He holds a Bachelor of Education and Masters Degree from the Queensland University of Technology.

In his spare time Scott loves spending time with his family, attending his beloved North Queensland Cowboys home games. He’s also an avid fan of the Townsville Fire WNBL team.
